Venkaiah Naidu's Shocking Interview @ AP

Update: 2016-05-28 05:23 GMT
Telugu States weren't content with the kind of financial assistance offered by the Central Government in the past couple of years.

Responding on the issue, Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said: "They might expect anything…even Rs 1 lakh crore, but what matters is Centre should be in a position to give it! Telugu States need to think if their demands are acceptable in the present situation. 14th Finance Commission recommendations helped States receive more funds. Centre is trying its best to address the issues of Telugu States. Fulfilling all the promises of AP Reorganisation Act 2014 within 2 years is impossible. We would do all of them in 10 years. AP has been facing revenue deficit after Bifurcation as Hyderabad, which contributes most of the revenue in United AP, has gone to Telangana. We will address Revenue Deficit until 2019. 14th Finance Commission denied Special Status to AP. Hence, We are allocating funds to AP by treating it as a Special State. I'm not saying Special Status won't be useful but its not the solution for all the problems. Centre is keen to complete Polavaram project within the scheduled time".

Venkaiah Naidu's Comments willn't go down well with the people of AP. He gave an impression Centre isn't committed to fulfill the promises of AP Reorganisation Act 2014 any time soon.
