KVP's Private Bill, Venkaiah Naidu's Escapism!

Update: 2016-05-03 06:59 GMT
Congress leader KVP Ramachandra Rao moved a Private Member Bill in Rajya Sabha demanding Centre to accord Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh for a period of 5 years.

During the discussion on the Bill, Union Minister for Home Haribhai Chaudhary told the Upper House that Centre has already fulfilled some of the promises listed out in AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. He added, 'Apart from setting up institutions, Funds to the tune of Rs 90,000 crore has been sanctioned to AP'.

Its then Parliament Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Nakhvi appealed KVP to withdraw the Bill as the concerned minister has given a detailed explanation. Voting on the Private Member Bill is expected to take place on Friday.

Speaking to media, M Venkaiah Naidu told Centre needn't have to implement the recommendations even if the Private Member Bill gets passed in Upper House. Still, Congress might use the Bill as a weapon to expose the double-standards of  BJP.
