Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday explained in detail why Special Category Status wasn't accorded to AP. "Arun Jaitley is a dear friend of Mine. I discussed with him for about 70 times on Special Status. When I asked him to accord Special Status as the sentiment is so strong, Jaitley told Me - '10 others states were seeking Special Status. Should I give it?'," he disclosed.
The Union Minister asked people to be cautious about the leaders who were spreading blatant lies about Special Category Status. 'AP doesn't need Special Status but Special Care. Few people were sending a message Status brings everything. Special Status don't guarantee Educational and Medical Institutions. Every city can't become Hyderabad with Special Status. Polavaram project cost will be beared by Centre. We have given 1 lakh 93 thousands houses to AP,' claims the Senior Politician.
Venkaiah Naidu claimed he is relentlessly doing his best for the welfare of Andhra Pradesh inspite of criticism from other States. 'I was the one who is ensuring AP & Telangana Leaders get appointment of Union Ministers. As injustice is being done to AP, I'm taking special care in offering as much assistance as possible for the state through various schemes, projects and institutions,' he told.
