Jagananna Pacha Thoranam

Update: 2021-07-21 12:34 GMT
The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to take a great initiative of increasing the green cover across the state.

Under the program 'Jagananna Pacha Thoranam' saplings will be planted by the government and the concerned authorities.

The state government is creating a roadmap for the initiative to see that the saplings will be planted along the 17,000 km-long roads in villages.

The program is expected to launch soon. Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy is overseeing the arrangements of the program.

Earlier today, the Minister attended the workshop held by the Rural Development Department for the officers on 'Jagananna Pacha Thoranam' as a chief guest.

During the workshop, the Minister told the officials that village Sarpanchs should take care of the saplings which will be planted as part of the program.

The village authorities should take all the possible measures to see that the saplings will survive and the green cover will increase in the state.

Taking measures and steps for name sake will not be entertained. The saplings will be planted in a way that they will have enough space to keep tree guards.

Finds will be released for the respective village panchayats to provide water and other required needs to help the saplings survive and grow.

The concerned authorities should visit neighbouring states Telangana and Karnataka to see how things are going on there. The responsibility of saplings should be given to unemployed youth so that they can get employment, the Minister said.

The Minister added that the top three districts that achieve good results in taking care of saplings will be awarded and the awards will be presented by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Saying that authorities who show negligence in taking part in the initiative will not be spared, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said strict action will be taken against the authorities of the top three districts that produce the worst outcome concerning the initiative.

The program is expected to kickstart across the state once the Chief Minister launches it formally.
