He was a greenhorn in politics, but was given a massive mandate by the voters. Despite winning with a huge majority, he began ignoring the constituency and focused on his Bengaluru-based businesses. Now, the voters in his constituency have rebelled against him and warned him not to come to their villages. The MLA, who is facing rough weather from the very same people who overwhelmingly voted for him, is none other than Palamner MLA Venkataiah Goud.
As a novice, Venkataiah Goud rode on the Jagan wave and defeated former minister Amarnath Reddy with a huge majority in Palamaner of Chittoor district. Initially, there was euphoria and anticipation. But, Goud did not even bother to visit the constituency for months on end. He began focusing on his businesses in Bengaluru. Though the voters and the cadre indulged him initially, this soon gave rise to disenchantment and then anger.
Meanwhile, those claiming to be the representatives of the MLA began ruling the roost in the constituency and their deeds and misdeeds have brought disrepute to the MLA. Realising this, the MLA has now begun touring his constituency. But, he was in for a surprise as posters and banners asking the MLA not to visit their village has sprouted up in several villages.
The banners asked the MLA not to enter their village. Huge banners greeted the MLA in Kongatam village. The village is in the MLAâs home mandal. A shocked MLA had to return from the outskirts of the village. Now the MLA is worried that more villages might follow suit. He is now said to be working overtime placating the sulking villagers in his constituency.
