Taking a leaf of inspiration from other states, Karnataka has also opted to impose a full-fledged night weekend to tackle the rising Coronavirus infections and casualties.
As per the orders issued by the government, the weekend curfew will start at 9 pm on Friday and will be in effect till Monday 6 AM. The proposed night curfew will be in effect for two weeks.
Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala chaired an all-party meeting on Tuesday on the Coronavirus situations in the state. After the meeting, the state Chief Secretary P. Ravikumar issued an order on the weekend curfew.
During the curfew period, schools, colleges, cinema halls, gyms, theatres, bars, pubs, assembly halls, religious places, social, political, sports, religious, entertainment congregations across the states will be shut.
Services like ration shops, groceries, fruits, vegetables, milk, dairy products, fish, meat, animal fodder that fall under the essentials will remain open during the weekend curfew period.
On the other hand, private offices, companies, institutions across the state were permitted to operate with a minimal workforce. The government urged the companies to make use of work from home module.
