What are the options for Etela Rajender? Etela's supporters and opponents alike are debating this issue furiously. As of now, ever since he was sacked from the cabinet,Etela is putting on a brave front, but is increasingly realizing that he has limited options.
There appears to be no chance of a reconciliation with KCR at this junction. Etela is simply waiting for KCR to sack him from the party. If KCR throws him out, his MLA position will be safe and he need not face a bypoll. So Rajender on his own is not even trying to resign from the party. But, sources say that he is mulling his future moves.
Though he has standing invitations from both the Congress and the BJP, Etela is said to be averse to joining any of them. He realizes that the Congress across the country in general and in Telangana in particular is a sinking ship. At the same time, he also realizes that in BJP, he would be one among the many leaders and would soon lose his identify.
Forming a regional outfit is another option. Former MP Konda Visweswar Reddy, Teenmaar Mallanna and some other key leaders are proposing this. But, there are no elections in near future. This means he may have to run the party for at least two-and-a-half years, which is by no means an easy task. Running a party needs lot of money and effort. Will Etela and Konda be able to manage them? Well! My guess is as good as yours.
