Telangana minister Srinivas Goud showed his human side on Thursday when he personally officiated the cremation of a dead beggar in Mahabubnagar. The Minister, who was inspecting the Lockdown and was interacting with the officials involved in implementing the Lockdown, came to know that an old woman, who eked out her livelihood by seeking alms, had died in the neighbouring street.
The Minister went to the place where the body of the woman beggar was kept and found that she had no relatives except a mentally-unsound son. The minister, who was moved by the sight of the body lying on the pavement, became emotional and called for an ambulance. The body was then taken to the cremation ground, where Srinivas Goud himself performed all the associated rituals.
This action of the minister, who could easily have delegated the responsibility to the officials, has come in for praise from all the people in Mahabubnagar town. The minister is personally monitoring the implementation of the Lockdown in the town.
