Ironic: When Foreign players are helping India, Indian players remain spectators!
The Coronavirus has been causing a devastating situation in India. Lakhs of people are being tested positive for the deadly respiratory disease daily, while thousands of lives are being claimed.
Situations in several states went out of hand, forcing them to go for night curfews and lockdowns. Several hospitals are running low on medical oxygen supply. A few High Courts have expressed severe dissatisfaction over the Covid-19 measures taken by the government in the respective states.
When India is going through a severe crisis, Australian speedster Pat Cummins and former Aussies player Brett Lee have come forward to help India. The players have donated $50,000 and Rs. 42 Lakhs respectively to purchase medical supplies.
The two players are being lauded by Indians and others as well for their noble gesture to support the country in the tough time.
What's ironic is that, when foreign players are supporting India like how Indian players were supposed to do, the Indian players are keeping their silence on this, like foreign players.
Indian cricketers are earning big numbers as their salary. When the country they are representing is struggling to fight the worst-ever crisis, they remain silent without supporting India.
While donating $50,000, Pat Cummins encouraged his fellow IPL players and others to come forward to donate for India. Brett Lee said India is his second home, and the love and affection he received from India even after retirement remains special.
It is high time that Indian players should come forward to help India at least by seeing the foreign players. More than two lakh patients have succumbed to the virus so far in India.
