The Posts of President & Governor are more like a rubber stamp. They remain as mere spectators when everything is normal but could turn very powerful in extra-ordinary situations. The ongoing developments in Tamil Nadu has set a clear example for it.

Tamil Nadu in-charge Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao breathed fire on Chief Secretary and DGP for making arrangements for Sasikala Natarajan's swearing-in ceremony at Madras University centenary without his consent. Neither CS nor DGP were able to give a satisfactory answer to the Governor.

Soon after she was elected as AIADMK's Leader of Legislative Party, Sasikala passed orders to make arrangement for his swearing-in ceremony at the Madras University. Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao questioned the top Government officials, 'Who gave you the permission for Swearing-in Ceremony? Why the Tax Payer's money has been wasted? Even 144 Section at Marina Beach was revoked to permit large gathering for the ceremony. No arrangements should be done for Swearing-in Ceremony until Raj Bhavan gives such a direction'.
