YSRCP in Nellore district is passing through tough times. Internal dissidence is ruling the roost. Internal power struggles seem to be taking toll on the party. Recently, Nellore urban MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy was arrested on charges of attacking a government official. He was arrested and immediately released on bail. But, what he said later was very significant. He said that a section of the party was ranged against him and that it was conspiring to finish him off politically. He wanted YS Jagan to take note of this.
Kotamreddy was a student leader and was known for his firebrand ways. He was given YSRCP ticket despite stiff opposition from within the party. In 2019 too, a section within the party has strongly opposed giving him party ticket. But, both the times, Jagan backed him to the fullest. Adala Prabhakar Reddy is a traditional rival to Kotamreddy. He was in the TDP and joined YSRCP ahead of 2019 election. Adala, who was the MP candidate, funded all YSRCP MLAs except Kotam Reddy. This led to deepening of differences between the two. Later YSRCP district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy too has begun opposing Kotamreddy. In fact, according to Kotamreddy, Kakani was fully backing the woman MPDO, who complained against him. He also said that Kakani was responsible for denying water connection to his layout.
Both Kakani and Adala have joined hands and began isolating Kotamreddy. They have even taken the issue to the notice of YS Jagan. MPDO's complaint and Kotamreddy's subsequent arrest are said to be part of the machinations of the two. This internal bickering is now coming into the open what with Kotamreddy's arrest. The earlier Jagan sets these things right, the better.
