Who will be the next chief secretary of AP?

Update: 2021-09-09 03:07 GMT
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is keeping cards close to his chest on the issue of appointing new chief secretary. With the term of the current CS coming to an end by September-end, there is intense lobbying among the senior IAS officers over the CS post.  This currently is the hottest topic being discussed in the power corridors of the AP secretariat.

Adityanath Das, whose term was to expire by June-end, was given an extension of three more months by YS Jagan. As a result, he would be superannuating on September 30.  Indications are that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is not inclined to give Das another extension. With barely 20 days left for his term to expire, there is frenetic lobbying for the coveted post among the senior IAS hands.

Reports say that there are at least three claimants for the post. Sources say that former chief secretary and present state election commissioner Neelam Sahni has already met CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and lobbied for the appointment of her husband Ajay Sahni for the Chief Secretary's post. Neelam Sahni and Jagan hit it off very well as a CM-CS combo. Another senior IAS officer Sameer Sharma too is said to be lobbying for the coveted post.  He has two-and—half months of service left. Another officer who is lobbying for the past is senior civil servant Srilakshmi. However, the cases pending against her may come in the way against her claims.

However, clever politician that YS Jagan is, he has not given away his mind. He has remained tight-lipped and gave no indication of his choice. Sources say that Jagan might open up only after another 15 days. As of now, the staff members of the secretariat are hotly debating as to who would succeed Adityanath Das.
