Politics is a strange game. One has to think of many things before taking a leap. One has to be one-up on his rivals. So, when the news of his father Mulayam Singh falling sick reached Samajwadi Party president and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, he left every other important thing he was doing and simply flew to Lucknow. His worst fear? UP CM Adityanath Yogi may visit ailing Mulayam Singh before he could do. That would not just send wrong signals, it would also mean all is not well between the father and son. Already, the political rift between the two is well-known. So, Akhilesh cancelled all his important works, including some emergency paper work in Delhi, and rushed back to Lucknow to be by the side of his father.
Akhilesh and Mulayam are not in best of terms. Akhilesh not only deposed his father from party chief's post, he has also ignored the advice of Mulayam Singh not to join hands with Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party. He paid for aligning with the BSP in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Since then, the relations between both the father and the son have further deteriorated.
