Why AP CM Wants To Abolish Legislative Council?

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to scrap the Legislative council. He ordered the law department to prepare a draft bill to withdraw the council.

In the 58 members legislative council, TDP has the highest majority, it has 26 seats, YSRCP has 9 seats, PDF 5 seats, BJP 3 seats. Previously in the winter session, YSRCP government sent the bill related to the introduction of English medium and the bill was rejected. As the YSRCP has no scope of getting the majority in the near future to get the bills passed. YSRCP decided to scrap the Legislative council.

The first time AP Legislative council was abolished in 1985 when the TDP has come to power and Congress has the majority in the council. Former minister Rosaiah was the leader of the house and he is giving a tough time to the TDP government headed by late NT Rama Rao. the council was restored in 2007, by the then CM late YS Rajashekar Reddy.
