Why Are Reddys And Lambadas Leaving TRS?

Update: 2018-11-21 07:29 GMT
Suddenly, out of the blue, the Reddys and Lambadas have dealt a deadly blow to the ruling TRS in Telangana.  While the TRS was feeling smug about the head-start it got by announcing its candidates quite early and about the bickering within the Congress-led Maha Kutami, Chevella MP Konda Visweswara Reddy pulled the rug from under the feet of the TRS. It is being said that there are several more from among the TRS MPs, MLAs and MLCs, who could crossover to the Congress Party. So shocked is the TRS that it's mouthpiece newspaper has not even covered the resignation of the MP.

It now emerges that most of those who are planning to leave the TRS are from the Reddy and the Lambadi communities. Why are these communities angry and why are they planning to ditch the TRS? The Reddy anger is palpable and has been building up over the last few years. The community feels it is being denied its share of power ever since KCR came to power and are sulking. The Congress utilised this opportunity and organised Reddy community meets all across the Telangana during the past few months. Similarly, Lambadis are angry with the TRS as some of the TRS leaders have tried to drive a wedge between the other tribals and the Lambadis. Tribes like Gonds feel that Lambadis are taking away most of the jobs meant for the STs. This led to physical clashes in Adilabad district. So, Lambadi leaders have since been sulking over this and some of the leader from the community in the TRS were waiting for the right time to strike.

Congress working president Revanth Reddy realised this and has put in place 'Plan Akarsh.' Though shocked, the TRS is putting a brave front. It says these leaders are not popular leaders and their leaving will not affect the party's prospects. Who will have the last laugh - the TRS or the Congress? Let's wait and watch as the political drama unfolds!!
