Why Did BJP Ignore These 3 Rajya Sabha MPs?

Update: 2021-10-12 04:51 GMT
The three Rajya Sabha MPs from Andhra Pradesh who latched on to the BJP bandwagon in 2019 are a disappointed lot.  Not one of the three MPs was given any post of importance in the newly constituted BJP national executive committee. They have not been made even special invitees.

The three TDP MPs who joined the BJP in the wake of the crushing defeat of the TDP in 2019 are CM Ramesh of Kadapa, Sujana Chowdary and industrialist TG Venkatesh. It was rumoured that they mainly joined the BJP to escape from the slew of raids by the law-enforcing agencies. The BJP needed them as it was in a minority in the Rajya Sabha.

However, their terms are coming to an end in 2022 and there is no chance of their getting re-elected on a BJP ticket given the lack of BJP MLAs in either AP or Telangana. As their careers were hitting a dead-end, these three leaders hoped that they would be accommodated in the National Executive Committee of the party. But, he BjP chose to ignore them. In fact, except for former state president Kanna Lakshminarayana, no other leader from AP has been given place in the national executive.

Interestingly, more people were inducted into the national executive in the neighbouring Telangana. Two more leaders – Vijayasanthi and Eatala Rajender – were made special invitees to the NEC. Compared to this, the national leadership has even removed Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao from the post of the national spokesperson of the party.
