Why did MIM remain neutral in Dubbak bypoll?

Update: 2020-11-18 05:01 GMT
Even after a week after the Dubbak bypoll results are out, the election continues to be a hot topic of discussion.  Questions are now being asked as to why the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen, which is a staunch ally of the TRS, remained neutral in the Dubbak bypoll.

There are about 9000 Muslim voters in Dubbak assembly constituency and one call from the MIM would have tilted the scales in favour of the TRS. But, the TRS did not even issue a statement supporting the TRS. Sources say that even the TRS did not ask the MIM for open support. It was apprehensive that the BJP would use the MIM support as a stick to beat the TRS. The BJP might even whip up Hindutwa sentiment and this could badly hit the TRS. So, the TRS did not ask the MIM to openly work for the TRS candidate.

Sources also tell us that the MIM has a soft corner for Raghunandan Rao, the BJP candidate. The reason? Raghunandan Rao was Owaisi's lawyer when they were arrested for making inflammatory comments in Nirmal. It was he who got a bail for the Owaisis in Sangareddy court. So, as a mark of gratitude, the TRS remained neutral in the election.  It is because of this that the Muslim votes were divided and Raghunandan Rao managed to win the bypoll.
