Even as India is battling Chinese perfidy at the Line of Actual Control in the Ladakh region, one question is seriously cropping up these days. As the PM is holding high level meetings on national security, India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is missing in action.
Though meetings are being held regularly, Ajit Doval is not being seen. No statement has come forth from him. This has set the tongues and tails of the opposition and chatterati wagging. But, here's the truth. Ajit Doval's wife is seriously ill and is in the hospital. So he is attending to her like a dutiful husband. Despite not being able to attend the high-level meetings, he is said to be keeping track of what is happening on the China border. Incidentally, Modi has included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jayashankar in the list of invitees to these meetings.
Meanwhile, Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, though attending the meetings, is also keeping an unusually low profile, giving away practically nothing to the media. On Saturday, India's AirForce Chief has gone to the Galwan valley. Bipin Rawat clearly decided to allow the air force chief to hog the limelight.
