Why Is Patancheru Important For AP's Local Polls?

Update: 2021-02-08 04:16 GMT
Elections to the local bodies are being held in Andhra Pradesh, but the political heat is on in faraway Patancheru. You read it right. Patancheru area has become the hotbed for Andhra politics. Political leaders and their agents are highly active in Patancheru area.

Why? A large number of settlers from various districts in Andhra Pradesh are now working in the industrial belt and they have votes both in Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh. Their votes might prove very important in the local body polls. So, leaders from various political parties in AP have descended on Patancheru to woo them.

Sources say there are around 75000 such voters in Patancheru and adjoining areas like Pashamailaram, Bollaram, Ramachandrapuram, Gaddipotharam, Kajipur, Isnapur, Vavilala, Bontharam and other areas. The political parties are reportedly offering up to Rs 15000 per vote including travel expenses to the voters to go to their native villages and vote. Some parties are even arranging buses for the travel of the voters. All major parties are said to be ready with lists and other details of the voters. The biggest problem is for the industrialists who may see a lot of employees going on leave due to the elections.
