Why is PK launching a padayatra from October 2?

At a time when Rahul Gandhi is 3500-km-long across the length of the country, another padayatra has begun. This time, the padayatra is in Bihar and the man taking out the padayatra is poll strategist Prashant Kishor himself. PK has launched his padayatra from West Champaran district.

Interestingly, he launched his padayatra from the same Bitiharva village in the district, from where Mahatma Gandhi launched his pada yatra. PK is set to conduct the padayatra for3500 km and the yatra is likely to take 12 to 18 months.  Many see this as a prelude to PK's political entry. He is likely to enter direct politic after the yatra.

PK himself has said that his yatra has three-fold aim. Firstly, he will identify the right kind of candidates at the grassroots level. Secondly, they would be brought into active politics and thirdly, to prepare plans for future political activity.  The programme would be organised under the auspices of his newly formed organisation Jan Suraj.

PK has already some taste of politics. He joined the Janata Dal United and became its vice-president. However, he was later thrown out of the party for resorting to "anti-party' activities. It was after this that he had launched the Jan Suraj.  But now, PK would become the target of all the three major political parties in Bihar – the JDU, the RJD and the BJP.
