Why is UP BJP giving more tickets to OBCs?

Update: 2022-01-22 14:58 GMT
Tension is gripping the Bharatiya Janata Party as the date of the polling is nearing in Uttar Pradesh. For the BJP, this is a make-or-break election and all its future plans and even the 2024 elections depend on this election. The biggest worry for the BJP today is about how to keep its OBC leaders and voters together.

It's biggest OBC face Swamy Prasad Mourya has left the party and has joined the Samajwadi Party. Not just that. He has managed to take way as many as five prominent OBC faces from the party. As of now, the BJP does not have a prominent OBC face. As a result, the BJP is now completely dependent on deputy CM Keshav Prasad Mourya. The biggest worry is how to get the maximum votes from the non-Yadava BCs. Kurmis, Mouryas, Sainis, Lodhas are among the most prominent non-Yadava OBCs.

Another big problem for the BJP is that it does not have prominent SC faces, especially from the two prominent sub-castes  - Jatavs and Valmikis . This too is turning out to be a huge headache for the BJP. Hence the BjP is trying to ensure that it gives more tickets to the SCs and the non-Yadav OBCs.

The election is fast turning out to be a nerve-racking experience for the BJP. The party leadership is now depending more on Keshav Prasad Mourya to bail it out during the polling. The party is pitted against a resurgent Samajwadi Party in the seven-phase lections.
