Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is according top priority to Mangalagiri constituency. Sources say in terms of fund allocation, Mangalagiri is second only to Pulivendula, Jagan's home turf. He is all set to develop satellite townships around Mangalagiri and set up several prestigious institutions. Already Rs 50 crore have been allocated to Mangalagiri.
But, the real target, according to those in the know, is Nara Lokesh. Jagan is taking steps to ensure that Lokesh Babu's political future is doomed. Lokesh contested from Mangalagiri and lost to sitting YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy. Even when it became clear that Lokesh would contest from Mangalagiri, Jagan did not change the candidate. In a keenly fought election, Lokesh lost. But, Lokesh has toured Mangalagiri several times after he lost the elections. He has also conducted several meetings with the party workers. To ensure that Lokesh does not win from Mangalagiri again, he has increased allocations.
Secondly, he is planning to reward RK suitably for the victory. While bringing him into the ministry might take some time, RK is likely to be given some nominated post. Similarly, to ensure that the weavers community, which is a dominant voter group in the constituency, does not veer towards the TDP, Jagan has planned to give a suitable post to former MLA and a leader from the weaver community, Kandru Kamala.
