Rahul Gandhi sure has foot-in-the-mouth problem. Despite being the president of a major political party, he does not seem to think before he speaks. Usually, politician measure their words and calculate the implications and consequences. But, not Rahul Gandhi.

During an off-the-cuff interaction with the media on Tuesday, he said that that the Congress was only a supporting partner in the Shiv Sena-NCP Coalition. He said that the party was not a key decision maker in Maharashtra. This statement backfired as it created quite a flutter in the state, where the coalition is in power. This meant that the Congress was planning to come out of the coalition. It could also mean that the Congress was not happy with the way the government was being run. This inter alia meant that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray led government could fall. This sent the Shiv Sena into a tizzy. The NCP was in a quandary. It was then that the Congress leaders realised that Rahul was unnecessarily rocking the boat. There was a possibility that Shiv Sena might walk into the BJP fold and the Congress may unwittingly lose another state. As a result, the damage control wing got hyperactive.

Realising that the end loser would be none other than the Congress, Rahul Gandhi quickly dialled an angry Uddhav Thackeray and assured him that the party would not rock the boat and that it would continue to support the Shiv Sena till the end of the five-year term. Rahul's inexeperience showed in the whole episode.
