Room No 135: Why Is It Important For This Party?

Update: 2019-06-13 06:13 GMT
The CPM, which has put up its worst ever performance in the Lok Sabha this time, has just three Lok Sabha MPs. As a result, the party's national status is all set to be revoked making its party symbol vulnerable. The party leadership will lose the rights that are given to a national party.  Not just that, they are also all set to lose the Room No 135 on the third floor of parliament building complex. This room has been the CPM Parliamentary party head office over decades and has become synonymous with the Left Front politics. But with just three Lok Sabha MPs and five Rajya Sabha MPs in its kitty, the party is all set to lose this room. It would now be given some other room in the Parliament complex.

In fact, the party could have lost room no 135 in 2014 itself. But since party's general secretary Sitaram Yechuri was a Rajya Sabha member then, the parliament secretariat treated this as a special case and allowed the CPM to have the same room allotted to it. But, the party is not as lucky this time. It may have to lose the room this time.
