Why Star Players Fail in Crucial Matches: Ex-Indian Player!

Update: 2022-06-06 12:59 GMT
India has been choking at the ICC events since 2013. The last time India held its nerves was back in 2013 when the Men in Blue lifted the ICC Champions Trophy, under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After Dhoni handed over his captaincy, things are not working well for Indi at the bigger events.

Be it the 2016 ICC World Twenty20, 2019 World Cup, or the recent T20 World Cup, the top batsmen of India failed in the do-or-die match. With the 2022 edition of the World Cup round the corner, an Indian legendary player made sensational comments.

Legendary player Kapil Dev, under whose captaincy India lifted its maiden World Cup, expressed his concern about star players Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul. Showering praises on the standards they have set, Mr. Dev worried about them saying that when India needs them to perform they fail as they are unable to tackle the pressure.

Listing out the failed performances of the three star players, Kapil Dev said that they lose their wickets in crucial matches due to the pressure on them. Stressing the same point, Kapil Dev opined that the BCCI might have to take a tough call if they continue to do the same.

Compared to others, Kapil Dev was critical of KL Rahul. He said that the player has good technique and can play with a good strike rate, but he is failing to make runs despite going up the order. What will the team do with these performances he asked.
