The biggest topic for discussion within the Telangana BJP these days is the revolt by the senior politicians from Karimnagar against Karimnagar MP and party president Bandi Sanjay. They feel that ever since Bandi Sanjay took over as the party president, they are being deliberately sidelined. From party positions to nomination posts, they feel they have been given a short-shrift.
Sources say that leaders like former MLAs Gujjula Ramakrishna Reddy, Dharma Rao, senior leaders Rajeswara Rao, Nagurao Namaji, Venkata Ramani, Polsani Sugunakar Rao and Chinta Sambamurthy are up in arms against Bandi Sanjay. They have met thrice so far in secret to discuss on how they are being sidelined in the party. They are upset that they have not been given any position in the State committee.
Interestingly, seniors from Karimnagar were always at loggerheads with Bandi Sanjay. So cornered was Bandi Sanjay that he had in fact resigned from the party. He and Gujjula were never on good terms. Now that Sanjay has an upper hand as the party's state president, he is trying to corner them, say sources.
However, the party's national leadership seems to be fully backing Bandi Sanjay. It is said to have taken a serious view of the dissident activity. Rumour mill has it that the party's national leadership is planning to take action against these leaders. These leaders are said to have met Union Minister G Kishan Reddy recently. However, sources said that Kishan Reddy was non-committal.
