If wishes were horses, fools would ride them, so goes the adage. This rnapplies so perfectly to the BJP in AP. The party, which is vying with rnNOTA in terms of votes, claims it would defeat the formidable YSRCP in rnthe Tirupati MP seat bypolls. It is claiming that it is on the verge ofrn victory.
If 2019 elections are any indication, then the BJP is rnlight years away from a victory. In 2019 LS elections the YSRCP had rnsecured 7.20 lakh votes as against 5 lakh votes of the TDP. Thus, the rnvictory margin is a staggering 2.20 lakh votes. NOTA got 2 per cent rnvotes with 25000 votes. The Congress got 24000 votes and the polling rnpercentage is 1.9 per cent. The BSP got some 20000 votes. The BJP came rnnext with just 16000 votes. The voting percentage is barely 1.2 per rncent.
The big question is whether the BJP would pip past at leastrn the Congress Party in the upcoming elections. Let alone defeating the rnYSRCP, will it be able to go past at least 20000 vote mark? Congress rnleader Chinta Mohan, a former MP and a former minister, is working hard rnto woo the voters. Tirupati has seen a lot of development during Chinta rnMohan. So, Chinta has something to go home and tell about. What about rnthe BJP? It has shifted the proposed cancer hospital to some other rnplace. Similarly, Dugarajapatnam is incomplete. There is no talk of a rnspecial package for Rayalaseema. So, BjP has nothing to tout and tell.
Letrn alone win the elections, will the BJP be able at least to get more rnvotes than the Congress Party and beat NOTA? Pundits do not see any hopern for the BjP in Tirupati.
