Will BJP, TDP cause an upset in Huzurabad polls?

Update: 2019-10-18 05:23 GMT
Huzurnagar bypoll will go down in history as one of the fiercest contests ever. Both the ruling TRS and the Opposition Congress are pitting everything they have to win the election. For the Congress, it is a question of prestige and redemption of PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy's abilities. For the TRS too, it is no less important to win this election, especially after the Lok Sabha polls, where the BJP and the Congress won seven of the 17 seats.

But poll watchers say that two more parties are going to play a key role in the outcome of the elections. How many votes they get and which community they attract are going to affect the voting trends.  The two parties that are fast emerging as deciders are – BJP and the TDP.  The TDP has put up Chava Kiranmayi, a locally popular woman leader. She is expected to eat into the Kamma votes, which are in considerable numbers in Huzurabad. The Kammas across the state have moved closer to the TRS after the bifurcation of the state. If Kiranmayi is able to get considerable Kapus, then the TRS could be in a spot of bother.

The BJP too is proving that it is no pushover. Though the party got just 2000 votes in the Lok Sabha elections from this assembly segment, key leaders are staying put in the constituency and are actively campaigning. The BJP candidate is from the Perika community and he is likely to attract the BCs towards the BJP. This could upset the applecart of both the TRS and the Congress. It remains to be seen what these two parties will do in the elections and how they decide who wins and who doesn't.
