Will Ch Vidyasagar Rao Join Active Politics?

Update: 2019-09-02 14:42 GMT
Will Ch Vidyasagar Rao make a comeback in Telangana politics? This question is being hotly debated in the BJP these days. Now that his five year tenure is over and he is all set to be relieved from the post of Maharashtra governor. He would be replaced by former Uttaranchal CM Bhagat Singh Koshiyari. So, what will be his political future? Will he come back to the Telangana politics or will he retire from the public life?

Those who know Vidyasagar Rao say that he is not a person to remain idle. He has a support base of his own and has friends across the political spectrum. He is on good terms with Chief Minister KCR and his close relatives are in various political parties. He was a BJP MP in 1998 and 1999 and had even served as a Union Minister for Home Affairs under LK Advani. Given these reasons, it is highly unlikely that he would remain inactive.

But, his age is well past 70 and given the current mood in the party, those beyond 70 are not encouraged to be in direct politics. Their role would be mainly advisory. So, it is likely that he could be given an advisory role in Telangana politics, say BJP watchers. Whatever, it would be interesting to see the next moves of Ch Vidyasagar Rao.
