Are Karimnagar politics in for a big tectonic shift? With Etela raising a banner of revolt and ZP Chief Putta Madhu's mysterious missing episode playing out, there is a buzz that the TRS boss KCR is planning to bring in a hugely popular Congress leader into the party. The leader in question is four-time MLA and Congress stalwart Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
Sridhar Babu is currently MLA from Manthani in Karimnagar dstrict. He was a former minister too during the Congress regime. In fact, his family has always been a Congress family. His father Duddilla Sripad Rao was Speaker of the assembly of the undivided AP and was slain by the Maoists. This has added sympathy to Sridhar Babu. Though Sridhar Babu steadfastly refused to take the TRS bait and remained with the Congress Party, the TRS is now planning to bring him into the party in order to strengthen itself in Manthani area. Sridhar Babu has not made any statement on the issue so far.
Meanwhile, Karimnagar ZP chief Putta Madhu, who was once Sridhar Babu's protégé, may not exactly like this proposal. He left the Congress only because of his differences with Sridhar Babu. He first joined the YSRCP and then joined the TRS. If Sridhar Babu joins the TRS, Madhu will have a tough time, sources say. It remains to be seen whether Sridhar Babu agrees to join the TRS or not.
