It's a case of so near yet so far for some politicians and Gutta Sukhender Reddy is one such politician who has always been in the right party and at the right time and yet remained light years away from a minister's post. Despite all his trials, this senior politician from Nalgonda could not become a minister so far.
Gutta entered politics as a Janata Party leader. Later, he jumped into the TDP when it was founded. He became a key leader in the TDP and was head of the milk cooperative in the district. Later, he became a TDP MP in 2004. Later, he jumped into the Congress and became an MP in 2009 and 2014. After that he joined the TRS on the promise that he would be made a minister. But, he could not become a minister. He is now the chairperson of the Telangana legislative council. Thus, ministry eluded him all along.
Now, he is said to be making one last attempt at becoming a minister. He is now focusing on Nagarjunasagar constituency which will soon have a bypoll. He is working hard in the constituency and is paying regular visits to the villages in the constituency. In the event of he being made the TRS candidate, he is likely to demand a ministerial position in T cabinet. Those close to him say that this is his last attempt and If he fails to become a minister, he may slide into oblivion by 2024.
