The chorus within the TDP is growing in favour of bringing Junior NTR into the party fold again. Several TDP seniors are reportedly suggesting that the Chandrababu Naidu take a call on bringing back NTR and strongly feel that his charisma can catalyse the party into action in Andhra Pradesh. The stakes are high for the party and if this is not done, sooner than later, the party will be decimated in AP, they feel.
However, Chandrababu Naidu is not amenable to this idea. He has been staunchly opposing this idea, insiders reveal. The suggestion that NTR should be roped in was made some nine months ago in the wake of the crushing defeat of the party at the hands of YS Jagan. The party think tanks are openly admitting that all the strategies of Chandrababu Naidu in the last two years have come to a naught and achieved nothing. Even Pawan Kalyan has moved away from the TDP and is now aligning with the BJP. Even the veterans in the party are keeping away from Chandrababu as they are opposed to Lokesh Babu's dominance on the party. They feel that Lokesh does not have the verve or the drive to lead the party to victory in the soon-to-be-held local body elections.
So, these leaders and the thinktanks within the party feel that NTR should be brought in quickly to give a new narrative and a new drive to the party, which is highly demoralised due to the crushing defeat in the assembly elections. Even Modi-Shah's BJP seems to be unrelenting in cornering Chandrababu Naidu, they feel.
