Think Kishan Reddy, a smiling face, a friendly demeanor and a helping hand readily comes to mind. G Kishan Reddy has won from Amberpet constituency for three times running. He maintains close relationship with the local party workers and the people in general. He is available and accessible to the people. But, will he win this time?
Insiders say Kishan Reddy has been preparing ground for quite sometime and has organized a slew of programmes to reach out to all the party workers. But, there are indications that it may not be a smooth ride this time. The last three times, he had won because the TDP had an alliance with the BJP and transferred its votes to him. This time around, the TDP would throw its weight behind the Congress. This could hit Kishan Reddyâs prospects. Also, there is an under-current of discontent against Kishan Reddy among the party's second rung leaders. In 2014, Kishan Reddy won by a staggeringly huge margin of 62000 votes. But, when the GHMC elections were held a year and a half later, the BJP could not win even a single corporator seat. Partyâs second rung feels Kishan Reddy deliberately ensured the defeat of the party corporators to effectively kill any competition to him.
But now, five TRS corporators in his constituency are working against him and the BJP cadre is unenthused. This is proving to be a big challenge to Kishan Reddy. How Kishan Reddy tides over this challenge remains to be seen. This time around, MIM too is making a strong bid in Amberpet and feels it can cause a major upset. So, Kishan Reddy, watchout this time.!!
