Will soft-spoken, self-effacing Congressman Duddilla Sridhar Babu be the next PCC chief in Telangana? Sridhar Babu, who is now an MLA in Telangana state, is being touted as the next PCC chief. Sources say that Sridhar Babu's name is coming up as there is a strong opposition to Revanth Reddy being made the party chief.
Highly placed sources say that the High Command is looking to appoint someone who is non-controversial. It does not want a leader like Revanth Reddy, who is quite controversial and is facing staunch opposition from seniors. The seniors like Jeevan Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Uttamkumar Reddy and even V Hanumanth Rao are up in arms against Revanth Reddy.
Also, the party feels that since the incumbent PCC chief is from the Reddy community, the next PCC chief should be from some other community. Sridhar Babu is from the Brahmin community. The PCC did not have a Brahmin PCC chief in a long time. Hence Sridhar Babu, say the sources.
Sridhar Babu comes from a staunch Congress family. His father Sripada Rao was the speaker of the Assembly in the past. Sridhar Babu himself was a minister during the YSR era. Also, Venkat Reddy faction too has stated that it has no problem if Sridhar Babu is made the PCC chief.
