Will Magunta ditch YSRCP for TDP in 2024?

Update: 2022-07-01 04:33 GMT
All is not well in the ruling YSRCP in the all-important Prakasam district. The ruling party MLAs are a disgruntled lot and are blaming each other for the falling popularity graph of the party. According to highly placed sources, sitting MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy is hobnobbing with the TDP leaders and might as well contest on the TDP ticket in 2024.

That the YSRCP is a divided house in Ongole was revealed when Darsi MLA Maddisetti Venugopal recently blamed the YSRCP leadership for the fall in his popularity.  Former minister and Jagan's relative Balineni Srinivasa Reddy too is a disgruntled man. He said that the people within the party were conspiring to politically finish him off.

As if these were not enough,  Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasula Reddy's moves are leaving the YSRCP confused. Magunta has been sulking for the last three years. He feels that Balineni has completely sidelined him. Recently, he called for a review meeting on the civic amenities in Ongole town. Not a single civic body official attended the meet. However, all these officials were present at another meeting called by Balineni.  He is also upset that he is not being invited to any government or party programme.

If sources are to be believed, Magunta is keeping away from the YSRCP activities altogether. He is said to be in touch with the TDP leaders. He is also said to be planning to contest on TDP ticket in the 2024 elections.  Sources say that though around ten YSRCP MPs are unhappy with the way they are being sidelined by the MLAs, Magunta could be the first one to raise a banner of revolt. He is likely to join hands with the TDP ahead of the elections.
