The demand to make Hindupur the district headquarters took a big turn with Nandamuri Balakrishna stepping in and joining the force. To stand in solidarity with the people who are fighting for the demand, the Actor-turned-politician held a silent protest in Hindupur to support the demand.
A day after the silent protest, Balakrishna met the Anantapur District Collector and submitted a request to the Collector on the demand that Hindupur should be made the district headquarters. Balakrishna reached the Collector office as a rally and submitted the letter.
After meeting the Collector, the Nandamuri scion spoke to the media and supported the demand, and said that Hindupur is a better choice to be made the district headquarters. Nandamuri Balakrishna had voiced his support and said that he would meet CM Jagan for the interests of Hindupur.
It is said that the representation submitted by Nandamuri Balakrishna has all the details on the facilities enjoyed by Hindupur that makes it fare well compared to other regions to be made the headquarters of the Sri Sathya Sai district.

The TDP leaders and locals took part in the protest and held the placards. At the protesting site, Nandamuri Balakrishna and the Telugu Desam Party leaders have raised slogans to support the demand.
After the Andhra Pradesh government announced the Sri Sathya Sai district with Puttaparthi as the headquarters, people from the Hindupur region have raised a new demand that Hindupur should be made the headquarters as it has better facilities and resources.
