The much anticipated Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) elections are just days away. The political temperature has heated up with the remarks and attacks of politicians.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS), Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen(AIMIM) have taken the elections seriously and has been showing much interest in the campaign for the pools.
One aspect which is attracting all the interest is whether the local body polls will see a rise in polling percentage. Every time, the polling percentage is restricted to less than 60 percent. Last time, a mere 45 percent polling took place.
The reason for the less polling percent is the population of other states in the city. With Hyderabad being the capital city, a significant percent of Andhra's Population and other states stay here.
One more reason is, a major share of the population don't have Id proofs and Elections IDs here. They stay here, but they have proofs in the state they belong to.
These reasons can be attributed to the less voting percentage in the local body polls. Experts opinion that given the prevailing situations, it's very hard to reach the previous 45 percent voting share.
