Shiv Sena is one-of-a-kind political party. It has walked out of the NDA, but has not yet joined the UPA. Despite this, it is sharing power with the Congress in Maharashtra. The party has not yet taken a decision on this issue.
But, in an interesting development, the Shiv Sena will attend the meeting of the opposition parties called by AICC chief Sonia Gandhi. The meeting would be attended by 19 parties and would be held on Friday via video-conferencing. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and party loudmouth Sanjay Raut would attend the meeting. The last time Uddhav Thackeray met Sonia Gandhi was in February and this meeting Is being seen as very significant as he is likely to announce his joining of the UPA.
The meeting is being held in the backdrop of growing differences between the Congress and the Shiv Sena over handling of the current pandemic. The Congress is seeking to put the blame on Shiv Sena for the high number of positive cases in Maharashtra.
