Will Somu Veerraju get another extension as AP BJP president?

Update: 2022-04-01 18:29 GMT
A big question mark hangs over the fate of AP BJP president Somu Veerraju. His term is coming to an end in a couple of months. Will he get an extension or will he be replaced is the question before Somu Veerraju. Will he go the way of Haribabu, who got extensions or that of Kanna Lakshminarayana, who was replaced after just one term?

Somu is a diehard RSS cadre and began his career as an RSS activist in East Godavari district. He joined the BJP when it was founded in 1980. He has risen in the ranks of the party and was finally made an MLC when TDP came to power in 2014. After the 2019 elections, he was made the party president.

Somu is known to take a stridently anti- TDP stance. He has moved closer to the Jana Sena and has cordial relations with Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan. But, he has time and again said that there was no question of aligning with the TDP. Some sections of the party are not too happy with his anti-TDP stance.

Recently, a section of the TDP leaders have held a meeting near Vijayawada to discuss the party’s strategies. This group did not invite Somu Veerraju to the meeting. The meeting had Venkaiah Naidu’s former acolyte and national secretary Satyakumar. This meeting is said to have discussed alliance with the TDP to defeat the YSRCP.  Given this situation, will Somu get an extension remains to be seen.
