Jubilee Hills is the most sought after constituency in Hyderabad. A large number of settler and North Indian population make it an attractive constituency for the politicians. Hence everyone starting from sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath to film producer Bandla Ganesh is eyeing the constituency. But, the latest entrant into the ring is none other than saffron robed Swami Paripoornananda.
Though the Swami himself did not say anything, there are strong indications that the BJP might field him from Jubilee Hills. Sources say that Swami has lot of followers in this area and many have strong links to his Sree Peetham in Kakinada. Also, several rich and moneyed people visit Swami regularly for advice. So, sources say that Swami could cause a major upset in the constituency. Also, there is a sizeable presence of Muslims in the constituency and the MIM has two corporators from the area. So, this could also help in Swami whipping up Hindu-Muslim passions and polarize the Hindus.
As of now, the TRS has five corporators, but all of them are strongly opposed to the official party candidate Maganti Gopinath. They might join hands with the Swami and help him defeat Gopinath. BJP insiders say that if Swami wins Jubilee Hills, he could very well be projected as the BJP's chief ministerial face. It all, however, hinges on what Swami Paripoornananda's plans are. If he wants to be an MLA or a star campaigner for Telangana elections needs to be seen.
