Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao announced 'Bathukamma Saree Scheme' on the eve of Bathukamma Festival this year. However, State Government received severe flak from Women across the state on Day 1 itself for distribution of inferior quality sarees.
Actually, TRS Government spent as much as Rs 200 crore on 'Bathukamma Saree Scheme' with the aim of distributing Rs 1 crore handloom sarees to women. Women complained Government has distributed poor quality silk sarees instead of handloom sarees. Protests have been launched across the state over this issue. While Women burnt the sarees at Chelgal of Jagityal District, A group of females had thrown sarees on the road in Bhongir and played Bathukamma around them.
It's like a self-goal by KCR why because nobody sought distribution of sarees in the first place. He himself have given an opportunity for Public & Opposition Parties to criticize his party when everything was going on smoothly.
TRS Leaders sensed the trouble and promised to rectify the mistake. Arrangements have been done to distribute only handloom sarees.
