Yeddyurappa Wins Floor Test, Speaker Resigns!

Update: 2019-07-29 07:32 GMT
On Monday, BJP Karnataka Chief BS Yeddyurappa won the Floor Test with 106 votes (105 BJP, 1 Independent). 99 MLAs belong to Congress and JD (S) voted against the Trust Vote. Disqualification of 17 MLAs by Speaker eventually paved way for the new government in Karnataka. The Magic Figure required to form the government is only 104. BJP have two more than what's required to have the last laugh.

Yeddyurappa sees victory in Trust Vote as moving one step closer towards establishing stable and strong administration. He promises to uphold the trust shown on him by ensuring transparent and accountable governance.

Former CM JD Kumaraswamy stated people of Karnataka knew what work he has done in the past 14 months.

Karnataka Congress Chief Siddaramaiah cautioned Yeddyurappa that there is no guarantee how long he would be serving as the Chief Minister. He expressed the view that establishing stable government with rebels is impossible.

After BJP won the Floor Test, Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar tendered his resignation. The Saffron Party will be electing one of its members as Speaker of the House.
