YS Jagan to bring 3-capitals bill by March next year

Update: 2021-12-03 13:23 GMT
For all those who burst into premature celebrations over the withdrawal of the three-capitals bill, here is some bad news. The YS Jagan Government is now readying a fool-proof bill that can stand the legal scrutiny and bring it in the next session of the assembly.  The government is trying to address the legal loopholes in the earlier bill and bring in a new bill.

Jagan’s close relative and Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy announced that the new bill would be introduced in the next session of the assembly. It may be recalled that Jagan too has categorically said that the bill would be brought back and be tabled in the house very soon. But, Balineni has now confirmed that it would be done in March next year.

It is now clear that the drafting process of the bill has already begun and the legal issues are being scrutinised thoroughly.  Highly placed sources say that the YSRCP is planning to ensure that all the gram panchayats, mandal parishads and zilla parishads pass resolutions demanding three capitals. This process would be completed in a matter of six months.

Thus the Bill would be moved in March and the resolutions from the local bodies would be forwarded by May or June. So, if all goes well, the bill could become an act by August next year. So, Jagan will actually start working on establishing three capitals before the end of next year.
