YS Vijayamma ends fast, challenges CM Kiran

Update: 2013-04-07 12:14 GMT
YSR Congress honorary president YS Vijayamma and other party leaders who have been on an indefinite past protesting the power tariff hike have at last called off their fast on Sunday in NIMS hospital.

At around 12:20 am past midnight on Saturday, cops arrested the YSR Congress leaders who were fasting for the past five days as their condition deteriorated and shifted them to NIMS for treatment.

Vijayamma made it clear that the protests will continue in the interest of public as Congress government failed to fulfill the promise of 9 hours power supply and hiked the power charges thrice in the past three years. She even challenged CM Kiran Kumar Reddy to disqualify the MLAs who defied the party whip and call for fresh by-polls at the earliest. She also stressed that Congress should treat by-elections as a referendum on power issues.

Expressing serious objection to Kiran Kumar Reddy's remarks that the tears of opposition parties were flowing like rivers, Vijayamma stated that chief minister would be washed off by the tears of people soon.
