Biopics are ruling the industries now. Across the languages, the biopics of personalities from various fields ended up as money-spinners at the box office. A few sports biopics are under production which trace the life stories of veteran cricketers who represented India for long years. These biopics are carrying high expectations.
Compared to others, political biopics are special as they cover various interesting topics. As far as Telugu politics are concerned, political biopics have a special place. These biopics serve two purposes, one is highlighting the good deeds of the person and the second one is targeting the opponents.
Tollywood already saw such biopics as biopics after former Chief Ministers of combined Andhra Pradesh Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy(YSR) and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao(NTR) were made earlier. While Yatra showed how YSR brought schemes that benefit farmers, NTR: Mahanayakudu traced the journey of late NTR as a mass leader who still has a special place in the hearts of people.
Though the NTR biopic could not do any magic for the Telugu Desam Party, Yatra indirectly helped YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRCP for the 2019 general elections. Now another biopic on a politician is likely to come out.
YSRCP Lok Sabha member from Bapatla constituency Nandigam Suresh spoke to the media and said that a movie will be released about his life which will cover many aspects. When asked about the reason behind this, the MP said that it's the people who want to know about him and he wants to just accept their request.
Media reports say that the MP told the reporters that his biopic will draw a comparison between the current and previous state governments led by YSRCP and TDP respectively. How the previous government fooled people without working for them is likely to be showcased.
Comparing Nara Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the MP said that the previous Chief Minister cheated the Dalit community in the Amaravati issue while Jagan wants to empower the community and due to his support he became the MP. Usually, it is TDP that makes movies covering politics. But looks like the MP wants to counter TDP in its way.
