YSRCP Govt Changes Amaravati Dateline in Its Press Notes

Update: 2020-03-04 07:29 GMT
In what is being seen as a pointer to the YSRCP government's intention on the three capitals issue, the dateline of the press notes being issued by the Government's I and PR wing has been changed. Amaravati is no longer being given as the dateline of the government press notes. Instead, Velagapuri and Tadepalli are being used as the datelines.

Even the communications being issued by the Chief Minister's office are now having Velagapudi and Tadepalli datelines. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy  resides in Tadepalli, while his predecessor Chandrababu Naidu resides in Undavalli. Now, all the press communications of Jagan are being datelined Tadepalli and not Amaravati. If the meetings are held in Velagapudi office, the dateline is given not as Amaravati, but as Velagapudi. Any media communication from either the secretariat or the assembly are datelined Velagapudi only.

When asked, a senior government official said that the CMs residence, the secretariat and the assembly do not fall into the proposed capital area and hence there was no question of giving Amaravati as the dateline. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has proposed that there would be three capitals in AP – the administrative capital at Vizag, legislative capital in Amaravati and judiciary capital in Kurnool.
