In what is being seen as a resounding rebuff, the ruling YSRCP has suspended its renegade former MLA and former minister Kothapalli Subbarayudu from the party on charges of resorting to anti-party activities. Subbarayudu's suspension was ordered by the party's higher leadership and if sources are to be believed, Chief Minister and party supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has given his nod for the suspension.
Subbarayudu of late has been revolting against the party and has even staged protests against the sitting MLA claiming that he had failed to get Narsapur as the district headquarters for the namesake district. He had also created quite a sensation when he slapped himself with slippers for getting Prasada Raju as the MLA from Narsapuram.
On Wednesday, he had even said that he would contest the next elections from Narsapuram regardless of whether the YSRCP gives him the ticket or not. All these have angered the YSRCP high command and it issued a statement saying that he stood suspended from the party.
Subbarayudu has of late been trying to run down sitting MLA Prasada Raju. However, the party leadership has fully backed the MLA and this has further frustrated Subbarayudu. The former minister is an inveterate party hopper. He began with the TDP, but later joined the Jana Sena.
Then he moved back to TDP and finally landed in the YSRCP. The party did not give him the party ticket and asked him to work for the victory of Prasada Raju instead. Since then, he has been frustrated by the party leadership's indifferent attitude.
Sources say that Subbarayudu is likely to join the Jana Sena. He is finding himself unwelcome in the TDP, where there are already two claimants for the party ticket. Former MLA Madhava Naidu and senior leader Pathuru Ramaraju are vying for the party ticket. On the other hand, there are no claimants in Jana Sena. So, in all probability, he is likely to join the Jana Sena.
