The Indiana court has announced a significant development in the murder case of Varun Raj Pucha, a graduate student from Telangana. The 25-year-old suspect, Jordan Andrade, has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for the crime. Varun was tragically killed in a gym on October 29, 2023, after being stabbed by Andrade.

According to the court's ruling, Andrade will serve his sentence in the Indiana Department of Correction. However, it remains unclear whether he will be placed in a traditional prison or a mental health facility, as details about his mental state have not been disclosed.

The incident occurred at Planet Fitness in Valparaiso, where Varun was attacked while sitting in a massage chair. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Fort Wayne, he succumbed to his injuries. Varun was just two months away from completing his Master’s degree in Computer Science at Valparaiso University.

Varun hailed from Khammam district in Telangana, and his father, P. Ram Murthy, is a government school teacher. The family is devastated by the loss and is seeking justice for their son, who had dreams of a successful future in the United States.
