People planning to buy an AC, TV, refrigerator or washing machine during the festive season may have to spend more this year. According to the information in the provided report, several consumer electronics and home appliance companies are preparing to increase prices from October.

The expected price increase could affect products such as air conditioners, LED TVs, washing machines and refrigerators. Different companies are reportedly planning different increases. AC prices may rise by around 5% to 8%, while prices of some other home appliances could increase by around 3% to 4%.

Why Are Appliance Prices Increasing?

The main reason is the increase in the cost of raw materials. Prices of copper, aluminium, steel, plastic and other materials used to manufacture appliances have gone up. Companies are also facing higher transportation and import costs.

According to industry comments mentioned in the report, this is the third price increase in 2026 for the consumer electronics and home appliance sector. Companies have said that rising input costs are putting pressure on their profit margins.

AC Prices May Rise More

Air conditioners are expected to see one of the biggest price increases. The report says Blue Star has already increased prices of ACs and deep freezers by around 5% to 8%. Daikin India has also increased AC prices, with a reported increase of around 8% to 10% from September 16.

Godrej has also indicated that another industry-wide price increase may be necessary because of rising commodity costs. However, companies may not increase prices on the same date. Some brands could introduce higher prices in October, while others may do so in November.

There may still be some relief for customers. Companies had stocked products at older prices during August and September. Because of this, some appliances may continue to be available at old prices for a limited period.

According to the report, old-price inventory could remain in the market for around one to one-and-a-half months. So, some products may still be available at earlier prices during the festive season.

However, if raw material and other costs continue to increase, companies could announce further price hikes in the coming months.
