The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) saw a big development as the government changed. The executive committee took charge recently and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath was elected as the President of the Andhra Cricket Association. Days after this the ACA started focusing on improving infrastructure.
The ACA shifted its focus on to the stadium in Mangalagiri. President Kesineni Sivanath had inspected the site along with the key officials. As per the national media, the MP said they are focusing on having an international stadium there and hosting the international matches.
Sivanath said that they are focusing on having an international stadium with all the facilities in a year and hosting international matches. He also said that the focus is on the 2027 National Games.
If we draw a comparison between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana we see IPL and international matches happening more in Telangana due to various reasons. Right from the days of combined state the matches used to be hosted by the Uppal stadium.
In Andhra Pradesh, we have one international stadium which is YSR Stadium and it has hosted a few international matches across formats. If Mangalagiri stadium gets ready then the state would have another stadium.
The MP said that there was a delay in the stadium construction due to a few flaws and a committee would be set up to clear them and speed up the process.Mangalagiri is the constituency represented by Nara Lokesh. Earlier he said that he would bring an overall development and the international stadium is expected to come into use soon and international matches would also be set up.
